One of our clients requested that we create a solution allowing scheduling of an automatic SimCorp Dimension environment refreshes from production environment. Client wanted to have a possibility or preserving specific parts of the configuration from being overwritten (user specific configuration, user group assiciations, communication server parameters and more), having rest of the data refreshed.
Our consultants followed below steps to deliver the solution:
- Gathering and signing with the client final requirements’ list
- Choosing from available tools and technologies and analyzing possible solutions
- Delivering proposed solution sketch and presenting it to the client
- Creation of the solution and offboarding it to a client test environment
- Tests and validations by the client
- Final sing-off of the solution by the client
- Delivering the solution to the destination environment
The final solution was build as a PowerShell script employing variety of available tools (robocopy, Oracle database client, Oracle recovery manager and other) with comprehensive logging and notofication capabilities. Client utilzed internal scheduling tools to run environment refresh during non-business days and on demand.
