Most of our clients are using Oracle Database version 19c, which is a long-supported version by SimCorp Dimension, and patch the database quarterly with the most recent release upgrade/bundle patch.
There are many patching strategies, depending on the client, but we usually recommend patching all non-prod environments, leaving 1 non-prod environment not patched. This is to make sure that there is at least 1 non-prod environment with the same Oracle patchlevel as production environment at all times. After successful patching of production environment, the remaining non-prod environment is patched.
As a part of production patching, shortly after the change, we oversee the environment during an early care period, catching any problems, to make sure the patchlevel transition is smooth.
